Some people believe that by forming an institution like school the educational function of the family will be fulfilled and therefore the position and value of the family would be insignificant, though the family has some roles which no institution can undertake and take its place. Accordingly, this article aim to study the definition of “family” and its educational function in the Qur'an and Hadith. The research method applied in this article is documentary study and Semantics is used for the definition of “family” and for identification of family’s educational function, the analytical method is used. The results show that according to what Quran and Hadith says, family is formed by the lawful (allowed) relationship between husband and wife, their children and their causal and relative kinship. According to these sources family fulfills functions effective in moral education and training of its members. Also kindness and friendship between the family members and the continuity of relationship between parents and children and the type of the relationship between the family and the children reduces the problems and shortcomings stemming from the school teachings. Besides, as the family plays the practical role of the moral and religious actions, holds more effective influence on children in comparison to school. All in all the institution of family entails moral and religious functions in educating and training its members to the extent that school can never take its place. خانواده به عنوان نهادی تأثیرگذار در جهت تعلیم و تربیت انسان، در سال‌های اخیر با شکل‌های جدیدی مواجه شده که ارائه تعریفی ثابت از آن ضروری است. از سویی بسیاری بر این عقیده‌اند که با شکل‌‌گیری نهادهایی همچون مدرسه، کارکردهای تربیتی خانواده توسط سایر نهادها صورت می‌‌گیرد و همین امر جایگاه و منزلت خانواده را کاهش می‌‌دهد. این در‌حالی است که خانواده نقش‌‌هایی دارد که نهادهای دیگر نمی‌‌تواند عهدهدار آنها باشد و نمی‌‌تواند جایگزین خانواده شوند. از این رو، مقاله حاضر با هدف شناسایی تعریف و کارکردهای تربیتی خانواده از منظر قرآن و روایات تدوین شد. روش بررسی در این تحقق، مطالعه اسنادی بوده و در شناسایی معنای خانواده از معناشناسی و در شناسایی کارکرد تربیتی خانواده از روش تحلیلی بهره‌گرفته شده است. یافته‌‌های پژوهش نشان می‌‌دهد که بر اساس آیات و روایات، خانواده متشکل از پیوند شرعی میان زن و مرد، فرزندان آنها و خویشاندی نسبی و سببی است. بر اساس همین منابع، خانواده دارای کارکردهایی است که در تربیت اخلاقی و تعلیم اعضای خانواده مؤثر است. همچنین به وجود محبت و موًدت میان اعضای خانواده، استمرار ارتباط میان والدین و فرزندان و نوع ارتباط میان خانواده و فرزندان به گونه‌ای است که مشکلات و کاستی‌‌های ناشی از آموزش‌‌های مدرسه را برطرف کند. از سویی به دلیل انجام عملی بسیاری از موارد اخلاقی و دینی توسط خانواده، تأثیرگذاری آنها بر فرزندان بیش از مدرسه خواهد بود. در مجموع خانواده کارکردهای تعلیمی و تربیتی اخلاقی و دینی برای اعضای خود دارد که مدرسه نمی‌تواند جایگزین آن باشد. http://jiqs.ir/ar/Article/Download/37069
